What we say from Best Chick Lit – review by Elizabeth Wright:
“Entice Me follows the lives of three women who are caught up in the struggle to find their true selves and work out exactly what they want. This question of life and what we should do with it is something that everyone has pondered over at some point in their lives and many are still struggling with. Melanie Toye uses her novel to delve deeply into the issue and gives her three heroines, Miranda, Grace and Louise, the answer we all long for.
Each woman is strong and successful in her chosen career and yet acknowledges that there is still something missing. This question of the balance between a career and family life is very popular in today’s culture and is sure to generate a heated discussion amongst women. Toye generously gives her characters very successful work and personal lives, with highly paid glamorous careers and handsome men with bottomless wallets. This gives each woman the chance to make an unbiased decision. If you had the option of financial independence and the perfect man who was completely devoted to you, what would you do with your life? Ultimately, Toye is saying to all of us, your life is in your own hands. Make of it what you will!”
“Entice Me is a chick lit novel that will not only make you smile but also inspire you to chase your dreams.” ~ Editor of Samara Magazine
“Great read. The characters were good and the plot had a lot of interesting twists. I look forward to the author’s next book.” ~ Greg
“Entice Me by Melanie Toye was a nice escape. It was light and often very upbeat even if the story is one of corruption and deceit. Sometimes it seemed like a take off of Sex in the City. How I have missed Carrie and the girls!!! Miss. Toye writes with a very optimistic view of everyday life. She wants to find what is beautiful and even exquisite in the world that we live in. I can applaud her for that. There were were some silly moments but I love her enthusiasm. Many of us have lost our zest for life years ago.
I give Miss Toye credit for writing a creative story. One to inspire at the very least. It was a fun little ride that kept my interest all the way through.” ~ Brenda
“I read your book and loved it.” ~ Ruchi
“loved the book… could really relate to all the characters. Since I’ve been in the same or similar situations. As would of many women and men.” ~ Jasemyn.
“What can I say about the amazing book that took me on a journey with three amazing ladies. The roads they were on to start with and coming into their own. I totally connected with a part of each of them. There was at least one thing about them that I could relate to. Miranda with her work work work, obsessive habit when it comes to an idea or goal. Grace with her care free spirit, because I do try not to let things get to me and just go with the flow. Louise with her wanting to be loved and yet it seems so far away. I can’t help but see a bit of myself in all three of these ladies. There were times when I would laugh out loud and other times when I wanted to strangle the man for being such a crazy lunatic. There were times when I couldn’t help but smile because I would have loved what had happened in the story to have happened to myself as well. These ladies take on a journey that every woman goes down.
The story starts out with Miranda and as the story continues you get to know Grace and Louise as Miranda brings them together and their lives cross paths. They bond with each other and get to know each other, becoming close friends. They tend to look out for each other as well as the story continues, bonding even more. The men in their lives is one thing but the woman trying to destroy everything, Sally, is such a pain in the bottom. I tell you if women could just avoid drama that comes with High School in their adult life then life would be so much easier. Though it is Miranda that Sally is out to get, she uses Grace and Louise to get to Miranda. She is jealous of everything Miranda has and wants to destroy her throughout the entire story. Miranda dodges most of the hits as Sally throws curve balls her way. I was surprised at the way the story ends with such a lovely HEA that I wanted to throw my hands up and say, “HA that’s what you get!!!” Pfft… ” ~ Julia
“Your book was great. Well done.” ~ Sharon.
As I was reading this book, the plot reminded me several times of a piece of wisdom that can make all the difference between success and failure. Here it is: Life is not what happens to you; life is what you make of the stuff that happens to you.
To me, this is the message contained in Melanie Toye’s novel. But there is a lot more to this book. It is a book about complex relationships between women with very different mentalities. There is hard working Miranda, there are Grace and Louise, one easy going and the other one… Maybe I shouldn’t give away too much. And then there is Sally – what can I say? – I’m glad she is not a part of my life. She is more than just a pain.
This is a book about life: about struggle, but ultimately about personal growth. The book is a page turner. I found it hard to put it down. Apart from having a positive message, I found it also very entertaining. I am happy to highly recommend this novel and give it five stars. Johann David Renner
